"Shout"

This was the first TLC song introduced to the fans, by Left Eye, for the 'FanMail' album as a possible single in 1998. Left Eye announced this to fans in a chat room. Allegedly, this was the first TLC song Lisa recorded with her new sound after eating healthy and having some minor work on her nose in 1997 that affected her breathing. Permanently removed the high, squeaky voice she grew to dislike into a new and more mature, deep sound. The fans couldn't wait to hear the song that's VERY much more on the TLC Tip then a lot of the songs on the album, T-Boz giving "What About Your Friends" teases in the intro.

Even though the song didn't become the first single, the fans were still pleased to have "No Scrubs", and to hear it on the album. It was still being vocalized from TLC that they wanted that song to be a single somehow. They ended up recording a "2000 Latin Remix" of the song with Latin Artist Enrique Iglesias & the Legendary Sheila E. The girls performed that version live on the 'FanMail Tour' but without Enrique Iglesias & Sheila E, allegedly planning on dropping it as the fourth single with them. Possibly, with a music video.

According to TLC Army, however, it all started taking a turn when they decided to drop "Dear Lie" as the third single. LaFace/Arista Records expected the song not to do as well as it did overseas and to drop "Shout" in the states. Because of that, and the girls going public with their issues in EW and Sister 2 Sister Magazine, the label decided to wrap it all up after the 'FanMail Tour' was over instead, closing with just three lead singles and 4 promo singles for the album.
