Entertainment Weekly - Supernova (2001)
"Left Eye - Supernova" Entertainment Weekly, June 29, 2001 - July 6, 2001
TLC's Lefteye is so famously flaky, few fans expected an on-time delivery for her long-promised solo album. But with details now emerging, it looks like the CD is for real. Due Aug. 14, the disc will be titled "Supernova", and it's packed with of-the-moment beats and confrontational lyrics. The first single, "Block Party," is a left-field summer anthem with a slinky groove and a great novelty hook. Other tracks include the Rockwilder-produced "Hot", "I Believe in Me," "Life is Like a Park," and "Untouchable," built on top of an unused 2Pac track and including a vocal from the late rapper. "I'm excited to connect with the people as a solo artist-not just TLC fans, but everyone," says Lopes. "I want them all to play. I'm about to change the game." As for TLC, the trio remains intact and plans a 2002 follow-up to 99's Fanmail. As Lopes raps on Supernova, "Everybody says all they want is the truth/well, the truth is, I still got love for my group."
