No wonder she don't want no scrubs: TLC's ultra-ambitious Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes seems to be on a mission to rule the world.
Everyone Loves Lisa
She guests raps on the lates discs by N Sync, Toni Braxton, Mya, Donnell Jones, and Mel C.
Going Solo
"I'm going to let people have a taste of different sides of me," says Lisa of her TLC-less CD, www.fantasy.com, due in February. That means it wont' be an all-rap album-we hear this girl can sing. Look for her to prove it on a song ballad king Babyface is writing for her.
Big Business
As the head of Left Eye Productions, she's mentored Top 10 trio Blaque and launched the label Wish Records.
On A Role
So she didnt' get the part she wanted in Josie and the Pussycats. Lisa still has an eye (her right one?) on Hollywood. "I love to be in character," she says. "I like costumes."
Pop Artist
"I do everything from painting to sculping to sketches," says the 29-year-old, who'll help design the cover art for her solo disc. And she's skilled in computer graphincs too.
Model Behavior
A fashion-foward femme, the Philadelphia native recently starred in the cK Calvin Klein Jeans "dirty denim" campaign. "I got to meet Mr. Calvin Klein himself, which was very motivating," says Lisa, who'll launch her own clothing line this fall.
Designing Woman
Lisa's new label, Kyle Young Designs, was developed with and named after her uncle, who creates all of Blaque's getups. But don't expect the futuristic fashions in Blaque's "Bring It All To Me" video. The clothes will be edgy yet comfy: "sweat dresses and sweat skirts," she says.
